Associated  Engines while under construction

These engines are shown being built from Paul Breisch castings. They are 1/3 scale of the Associated Hired Man, four cycle, hit or miss, gasoline engines. They have a 1-1/4" bore and 1-5/8" stroke. Flywheels to be 6" in diameter. (These are just a little bigger.)  One is air cooled with spark plug ignition. The other is water cooled with make & break ignition.

Jay A. Peters of BREISCH/PETERS took over the business after the unfortunate death of Paul Breisch. I understand that Mr. Peters has been in poor health for some time. It seems that the complete business was sold at the Iron Fever Auction in York Pa, in August 2005. It was purchased by three model making guys who live near York Pa and hope to start selling the models in the future.  As found on the www.smokstak.com/forum

Crank shaft being built from a piece of 4140 tool steel.  5/8" x 1-1/2" x  8-1/4"

The finished engines.
Note that the carburetor is not like the drawings. After building the
correct carburetors I found that they were very sensitive to fuel height.
Designed and built a smaller version of the Lunkenheimer type carburetor
as used on my Olds engine. These carburetors work MUCH better.
This engine is igniter fired.

This engine is spark plug fired.
